Aside from the deep responsibility we all share for our collective wellbeing, I have four profoundly personal reasons for standing as a candidate: Alex, Elsa, Chester, and Arlo—my grandchildren. They are my inspiration, my motivation, and my constant reminder that we cannot keep failing the generations to come.
Right now, we are not addressing the urgent challenges that will define their future—and the future of everyone in our community. We are standing at a crossroads, and the path we take next will determine whether we leave behind a thriving, just, and sustainable world—or one marked by crisis and decline.
The old parties have had their chance, and they have failed us. Stuck in a cycle of mediocrity, factionalism, and self-interest, they have allowed policies vital to our future to be shaped by career politicians serving their own ambitions, not the needs of the people. Democracy itself is being strangled by powerful interests with deep pockets. The result? Voters are disengaged, disillusioned, and losing faith in a system that was meant to serve them.
But there is hope. Until now, it may have seemed impossible to change the system. But the Community Independents Project is proving otherwise. Across Australia, local communities are reclaiming their democratic power, forming ‘Voices’ groups to select their own independent representatives—free from corporate influence, free from party control, and fully accountable to the people they serve.
Instead of politicians telling communities what they need, these grassroots movements are listening. What do you need? What keeps you up at night? What can we do together to create a better future? What do you value most in your community and your leaders?
This is a radical shift. A movement that is turning top-down politics on its head. And here in Jagajaga, we are part of it.
We are a new Voices group. We are building the plane as we fly it, learning, growing, and gaining momentum every day. Already, we have over 100 engaged supporters—and we are just getting started.
But we need you. To get a Community Independent elected in Jagajaga, to truly shake up the system, we need a team of committed, passionate people. I am just one person. This campaign is nothing without you. Together, we must be the voice of our community. We must be bold. We must ensure that every single person who cares about the future understands why we are such a powerful alternative to stale, broken party politics.
I ask you to join us. With your help, we can build this movement into something unstoppable. A force strong enough to challenge incumbents, disrupt the status quo, and bring real representation back to the people. We need people who will challenge us to be better. Who will bring fresh ideas and the courage to do things differently. Who will step up, take action, and be part of something historic.
So tonight, by putting your name down to volunteer in any way you can, you are doing more than signing up—you are becoming a pioneer for change in Jagajaga. Together, we have the power to reshape our world. To leave a better, brighter legacy for our children and grandchildren.
This is our moment. Our time. Let’s seize it—with courage, with determination, and with hope.
Your voice is Our future.
