Political integrity

Politicians should represent and answer only to the voters in their communities. We need laws and rules to stop outside groups from influencing decisions at the expense of voters. If I am elected then I commit to establishing an online voting method for voters in Jagajaga to direct how I should vote on the important legislation being decided in Parliament.

Here’s how we can make this happen:

■ Allow only people on the electoral roll to donate to political parties and candidates.

■ Require all donations to be reported within five days outside of election periods and daily once elections begin.

■ Review electoral funding and implement a level playing field for all candidates.

■ Give the AEC the power to maintain a public record of donations, monitor them, and enforce these rules.

■ Introduce strict penalties for breaking these rules, including fines up to ten times the illegal donation, jail time, and removal from office.

Integrity First, Always
