Here’s how we can make this happen:

■ Provide adequate funding to States and Territories to expand public housing for disadvantaged people. A caring community ensures affordable housing is available to those who need it most, treating it as a basic social good.

■ Remove the Capital Gains Tax discount and apply straight-line appreciation of capital gains over the time an asset is held. This will reduce investment demand for residential housing and help lower housing costs
